Board approves MOUs for career center transportation, speech services and ABA transition support

The board approved three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with external providers to support student services and emergency operations.

Board members voted to continue an annual MOU with the Southeastern Career Center (named in the transcript as South Eastern Career Center) for bus transportation support in emergencies. The board also approved an MOU with Beck Speech Therapy to provide virtual speech services; the district will move kindergarten through fourth-grade students to in-person speech this year and continue virtual speech for students in grades 5–12, which will require a realignment of some speech-language pathologist (SLP) assignments.

Finally, the board approved an MOU with HeartLink's ABA program to assist with transitions of certain students into the public-school environment. Each MOU was moved, seconded and approved without recorded opposition. The motions were recorded as routine contract approvals; the MOUs were presented as annual or continuing agreements.

The board did not discuss contract dollar amounts or specific performance metrics during the meeting; staff indicated the MOUs would continue under the previously accepted terms.
