Commission approves east-side addition at 2409 William Street

The Augusta Historic Preservation Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness for an approximately 800-square-foot addition on the east side of the house at 2409 William Street in the Somerville Historic District. The petitioner, Richie Reese, said the addition would include a master bedroom, master bathroom and laundry room, and that materials—standing-seam metal roofing, clad wood windows and eight-inch wood lap siding—would be matched to the existing house.

Staff and Historic Augusta reviewed the submittal and concluded the proposed addition met Somerville design guidelines; staff recommended approval. The commission voted unanimously to approve the COA.
