Committee approves technical revisions renaming ‘lecturer with security of employment’ to ‘professor of teaching’

The University of California Regents Governance Committee on Oct. 5, 2025, approved technical revisions to bylaws and standing orders to change the title of the “lecturer with security of employment” series to “professor of teaching.”
Trisha (presenter) said the May revisions to APM 285 had changed the academic title and the proposed governance‑document edits are technical adjustments to bring regental bylaws and standing orders into consistency with those changes.
A motion to approve the amendments to Bylaw 4.0.3 and Standing Orders 105.1 and 105.2 was moved and seconded and the committee recorded an affirmative vote with no opposed votes; the motion passed.
The changes are technical and intended solely to align regental documents with amended academic personnel policy; no substantive changes to academic appointment rights or processes were described in the public transcript.
