Commission approves new application form for outdoor alcohol service

The Liquor License Commission on July 23 approved a new application process and form for outdoor alcoholic beverage service. Attorney Smith explained the form was developed with input from multiple city departments, including public works, and that public works will receive a copy of the form for review of street/parking impacts.

Commissioners praised the cross-departmental coordination. Commissioner D’Angelo Antonio said having other departments “pipe in” on traffic and parking impacts was important. The motion to approve the application form carried unanimously.

The new application creates an interdepartmental review step intended to surface issues such as impeded traffic, parking impacts, or the need for additional permits before the Liquor License Commission makes a final decision on any individual outdoor service request.
