Board approves replacement sign on west wall of Blackmore Library at 2309 E. Main

The Board of Zoning and Planning voted Thursday to allow replacement of the sign on the west wall of the Blackmore Library at 2309 East Main Street.

Staff said the library’s prior approval included a condition requiring the board’s return for any sign change. Because the Canvas Planning District and the city sign code require board approval for sign changes in the Canvas Planning District, the applicant brought the proposed sign to the board for review. Staff recommended approval, and the board granted appropriateness for the new sign as submitted.

A staff representative recalled that when the library’s earlier signage was approved, the board conditioned that any future sign changes would be returned to this body. Staff and board members said the proposed replacement will be installed on the west wall of the building. No neighbors registered objections during the hearing.

The board moved and seconded the findings and took a roll call vote; members voting yes were recorded and the chair announced the motion passed. The item will proceed to permitting consistent with the city’s sign code and the Canvas Planning District rules.
