Parole revoked for Shaka M. Jones after arrest and evidence of aggressive conduct

The Louisiana Committee on Parole voted to revoke the parole of Shaka Marquis Jones (DOC 734738) on June 24, 2025, after reviewing arrest reports and video evidence the board said showed aggressive conduct toward another person.

Jones pleaded guilty with a statement to certain administrative charges during the hearing but disputed elements of the criminal allegations. The panel reviewed a preliminary-hearing summary and sheriff’s office video. The board noted medical and family circumstances Jones described, including an account that a partner had overdosed and later returned home, but members emphasized the committee’s responsibility to enforce supervision conditions.

Board members said the video and reports showed physical actions inconsistent with parole supervision. "You were noncompliant with the officer. You ... should be able to identify yourself and comply with law enforcement," a member said while describing the behavior the board reviewed. After discussion, the chairman cast the first vote to revoke; two colleagues recorded concurrence and the board announced that Jones’s parole had been revoked.

The board listed failure to follow reporting instructions, an arrest for domestic-related offenses, a refusal to provide a jail drug screen, and unpaid fees as parts of the case file the committee considered. Jones told the board he had evidence disputing some witness accounts and that the victim later gave statements inconsistent with the initial report; the chair cautioned that the committee does not resolve time-computation issues and urged Jones to avoid undermining his position.

The committee concluded the hearing with a formal revocation. The board recorded the outcome and moved on to other cases.
