Parole reinstated for Cortez Green with required mental health evaluation and curfew

The Louisiana Committee on Parole reinstated parole for Cortez Green on July 16, 2025, by a 2–1 vote, conditioned on a full mental health evaluation at Hunt Correctional Center before release and compliance with reporting and payment requirements. Chairman Danny Barra said the panel’s lead vote was to continue parole with conditions, while Miss LeDoux voted to revoke after the hearing; Mr. Freeman supported reinstatement with the added curfew.
At the hearing, Green pleaded guilty to criminal mischief after an April incident that resulted in reduced charges. His attorney, John Roa, said access to medication in custody and continuity of care were issues for the client, and jail staff reported no major behavioral problems while Green was detained. Green told the board he has health issues and has had trouble obtaining paperwork for disability but said he wanted to be released and follow conditions.
The panel specified that Green must receive a full mental health evaluation at Hunt before release, follow recommended treatment, report and pay supervision fees, and be honest about his residence. Freeman added a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew. The panel’s statement that the vote need not be unanimous closed the matter with parole reinstated under those conditions.
