Parole granted for Myron Turner to reentry program; conditions include 18-month placement

The Committee on Parole granted parole to Myron Turner on July 16, 2025, conditioned on his acceptance and continued participation in Servant Heart International Outreach’s reentry program. The panel stipulated substance-abuse evaluation and treatment, random drug screening, a curfew, and a requirement that Turner remain out of Plaquemines Parish. The board recorded unanimous support for the grant with these conditions.
Turner described longstanding substance-use and life-course issues and told the panel he had completed numerous rehabilitative programs in custody. Reentry representatives, including Detrice Smith Jones of Servant Heart International Outreach, detailed a structured program in Jefferson Parish with job training, counseling, and residential support. Supporters on Zoom and in-person explained housing and job plans, and the panel relied on those commitments in conditioning the grant.
Chairman Barra and other members said the board would release Turner only upon verified acceptance by the Servant Heart program and asked the program to provide regular reporting. The panel emphasized that failure to complete the program or to comply with conditions would result in revocation and a return to custody.
