The Woodlands Township received updates July 17 on several facility projects: a Parks & Recreation campus renovation, completion of an emergency training center, and construction progress at Fire Station 5.
Parks & Recreation staff presented schematic plans for a campus renovation that would add approximately 4,500 square feet, 42 parking spaces, 12 cubicle workspaces, a nursing/mothers room, expanded conference/break areas and additional storage and restrooms. Staff said site constraints (drainage ditches and forest buffers) limit expansion options; they plan to release construction documents, submit permitting to Montgomery County and the fire marshal, advertise for bids in October and begin construction around Jan. 1 if bids proceed on schedule.
Fire Department staff reported the emergency training center was completed June 1 and listed new amenities — expanded shower and locker facilities, a full dining room and kitchen and an enlarged workout room — and invited board members to visit. Fire Station 5 construction is progressing; staff showed recent photos and reported an expected completion date in January. Town Hall staff said they plan a mid‑August carpet and paint refresh and will request lighting upgrades in next year’s budget.
Directors approved receiving the facility updates; staff will return with final bid packages and budget requests as projects move from design to construction.
