Round Rock allocates $6.8M from Type B funds for Harold Parkway low-water crossing

Round Rock’s City Council approved an amendment to the Transportation Capital Improvement Program to allocate $6.8 million from Type B funds to complete the Harold Parkway / Sellers Park project, including a low-water crossing at Chandler Creek.
City staff said the $6.8 million will be used to finish the low-water crossing portion of the Sellers Park/Harold Parkway project; staff described the crossing as approximately 550 feet in length and designed to allow a 100-year flood event to pass under the structure. Staff said the Type B board adopted the allocation earlier the same day and recommended council approval.
In response to council questions, staff confirmed the finished crossing will include a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists along Harold Parkway through the park; the path will span the crossing and connect to the broader park trail system.
The council approved the allocation by motion (mover: Council member Ortega; seconder: Council member Montgomery) and the measure passed by recorded vote.
