County staff reported on a request from a city manager seeking Miami County participation to stabilize an eroding bank near 300 and Eleventh Street and protect a public-utility water line.
At the June 25 study session, a commissioner said the city manager contacted him about additional funding that had become available for a bank-stabilization project near a bridge replaced east of the Catholic cemetery. The county official described ongoing erosion of an oxbow that is affecting the PUA’s water line and said the city asked the county to consider contributing $100,000 toward stabilization. The commissioner said the bank-stabilization work would also provide a protective benefit for the county road in that location.
Staff said the city has been pursuing grants and other funding and that the county should wait to review final project details and any matching funds the city secures before taking formal action. Commissioners did not take a vote during the study session.
