Commission enters 30-minute executive session for preliminary real property acquisition discussions

At the July 15 meeting the Garden City Commission voted to enter an executive session for preliminary discussions relating to the acquisition of real property. The motion cited statutory authority for executive sessions and sought 30 minutes for the closed session. The motion identified participants to be included: City Manager Matt Allen, Assistant City Manager Danielle Burke, and Assistant City Attorney Jimmy Demermer.

The motion was moved and seconded, commissioners voted in favor and the body convened the executive session. The public record provided the statutory citation in the motion; staff referenced K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(6) as the authority permitting closed preliminary real-property discussions.
