Board approves urgent $23,846 contract to replace sheriff���s office air-conditioning unit

The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors approved an urgency contract not to exceed $23,846 on July 15 to replace a failed air-conditioning unit at the sheriffs office.

Facilities Director Nick Collin told the board the rooftop unit serving part of the sheriffs office had failed and the building is scheduled for a full HVAC replacement later this year. Collin said the single units failure left part of the facility without cooling during high summer temperatures and exceeded the county administrative officers delegated purchasing limit, which is why the item was added to the agenda as an urgency matter.

The board declared the item urgent, made a motion and approved the contract by roll call. Facilities reported two HVAC contractors were invited to quote; one declined. The contract will be administered by the Facilities Department and financed from departmental repair and maintenance funds; staff said there is no separate general-fund impact beyond departmental appropriations.
