Jamila Richardson pleads no contest; judge accepts plea and orders two-day county jail term, restitution and no-contact conditions

Jamila Richardson appeared by video, waived a jury trial, and entered a no-contest plea under a plea bargain that the court accepted. Under the agreement, punishment was assessed at two days in the Bexar County Jail (to be carried out under article/section 12.44 procedures), restitution to Kohl's was required if applicable, and the defendant was ordered to have no contact with Kohl's and JCPenney.

The court reviewed plea admonishments on the record, confirmed Richardson had received discovery and understood the charges, and found the state’s exhibits and stipulations sufficient for conviction. The judge accepted the stipulation of testimony rather than live witnesses and found Richardson guilty. Sentencing remarks noted the defendant’s prior theft convictions and the court explained the consequences of a felony conviction, including loss of the right to possess weapons and a limited right to appeal.

Defense counsel and the state confirmed the plea terms on the record; the judge placed the trial-court certification of defendant’s rights to appeal on the record and reminded Richardson of the limited scope for any appeal. The court also referenced the defendant’s medical condition and discussed potential accommodations and later scheduling options if necessary; however the sentence was imposed as agreed.
