Green Local approves change orders, hears update on middle school parking and ribbon-cutting dates

The Green Local School District Board of Education on a 4-0 vote approved multiple change orders for ongoing construction at the district's new schools and heard staff clarify remaining site work and temporary parking plans.

District staff presented five change orders for the middle school — including installation of security film on windows (Change Order 035), a revised stadium water service (Change Order 047), an emergency radio responder system (Change Order 049), and added items such as a mat hoist, a roof hydrant drain line and marker boards (Change Order 050). At the elementary level the board approved Change Order 040 for the emergency radio responder system and Change Order 010 at the primary school for a parking-lot asphalt mill and overlay. The board approved the package by voice vote, 4 to 0.

Board members and staff said the approved change orders keep the project within budget. A district staff member identified as Jeff said several items were “pretty straightforward” and emphasized the change orders still leave the project within the authorized budget. Jeff also explained the stadium water-service work reflects a rerouting after earlier site configurations tied the intermediate school service into stadium infrastructure.

An audience member asked whether there would be parking available when the middle school opens; staff said a temporary gravel lot and bus parking will be provided and additional site work on the south side of the middle-school site will continue into the fall. Board members and staff also discussed upcoming public events: a ribbon cutting at the elementary school on Aug. 21 at 3:00 p.m., and one for the middle school and core campus on Aug. 22 at 3:00 p.m., before a community tailgate for the first football game.

The board’s discussion emphasized safety and security items requested by the community and noted that some site development remains to be completed before the school-year opening.

Less critical details: the board conducted the vote without needing an executive session; those present voted unanimously to approve the change orders.
