Board approves participation in small opioid settlement with Henry Schein group

Rockbridge County supervisors voted July 28 to approve participation in a settlement with Henry Schein and affiliated companies in connection with broader opioid litigation. County counsel told the board the settlement amount referenced in staff materials is $461,000 and that the county's expected share would be a small fraction (the presenter said "0.2 something 5%" when describing the county's portion).

The settlement requires the county to sign release documents to participate and receive any allocated funds. County counsel and outside negotiators handled the settlement discussions; staff presented the documents for the board's approval. Supervisors moved, seconded and approved the resolution to join the settlement on a roll call vote.
