Supervisors reinstate Darren Brook to Muscatine medical examiner roster

Muscatine County supervisors voted July 28 to reinstate Darren Brook, EMTP, to the Muscatine County Medical Examiner’s Office on a part‑time basis to help fill investigator shifts.

Rich, speaking for Chief Medical Examiner Tom Summit, said Brook previously resigned about three years ago as his workload in the city increased and that Brook meets state training requirements. Rich said Brook holds death‑investigation training from Saint Louis University at both basic and master’s levels and will return to the county roster to help cover investigator shifts alongside other part‑time investigators. “Due to the schedule that we have now with our other investigators who are all part time ... we’re needing at least someone to fill in in the spaces again on a part time status,” Rich said.

A supervisor moved and the board approved reinstatement by voice vote. No employment contract details were presented at the meeting.
