The Board of Alders appointments committee moved two candidates to the Civilian Review Board and approved reappointments during its Tuesday session.
The committee forwarded Ebony Boggan Moore and Ryan Hunlock to the full Board of Alders for confirmation. The committee also approved reappointments of Jeannie Jenkins and Anne Marie Rivera Burrios (civilian review board reappointments were handled later in the meeting). All motions passed by voice vote.
Ebony Boggan Moore told the committee she sought the appointment to increase community participation and to learn municipal ordinances and procedures. Moore said she wants “exposure to the local laws and how they are supposed to be enforced” and signaled an interest in law school as part of her longer‑term preparation. The committee chair noted the Civilian Review Board’s work requires significant reading and research.
Ryan Hunlock identified himself as a practicing attorney and said he has experience working on civilian accountability projects and drafting charters for oversight bodies. Hunlock told the committee he would “approach every investigation and every oversight without bias” and emphasized his legal training as a benefit for the board.
Committee members said both candidates would be assets; the nominations were moved and seconded, and the committee approved forwarding the names to the full Board for confirmation. The transcript records voice votes with no roll call; the motions carried.
