Commissioners approve $15,845 roof repair for Spire building

MILLER COUNTY, Ga. — The Miller County Board of Commissioners approved a $15,845 bid July 14 to replace the roof on the former Spire office building and directed staff to move forward with the contractor selection.
Staff reported three bids and said Bob's Roofing Company submitted the lowest price at $15,845 for a 26‑gauge metal roof, including required business license and insurance documentation. Staff said Mark handled quote collection and recommended proceeding; the board voted to approve the low bid.
Commissioners said the county will coordinate timing and supervision through Mark, and staff noted it can proceed quickly once the contractor is scheduled. One commissioner said the county would not need to increase the purchase authorization beyond the bid amount; another confirmed the contractor contact as Renee Garcia.
The board recorded a formal motion to approve the bid and approved it by voice vote. Staff said they will arrange start dates and oversee the work through the county’s facilities process.
