Court approves extension to close property purchase tied to CLP grant; closing contingent on grant funds

Aransas County on July 28 approved an extension of a real estate purchase agreement among several property entities to allow additional time to complete a purchase tied to pending grant funds.
The motion describes the property as “approximately 9,962.952 acres” of land in Aransas County and sets a purchase price of $2,350,000. County staff said the extension is intended to provide time to finalize grant funds from a program referred to in materials as CLP and to complete closing paperwork; staff said the county anticipates closing by the 30th but that closing will occur only once the funds are received.
During the discussion staff corrected an address typographical error in the draft paperwork (noting a building number should read 1781 rather than 1751) and said the county had requested an advance of grant funds and expects to proceed quickly once those funds are in hand.
Commissioners voted to approve the extension and authorized the county judge to execute the necessary documents. Staff said they expect to close the transaction once the grant advance is received and will return documentation to the court.
