Resident asks commissioners for update on Peninsula Behavioral Health’s Northview housing costs and county payments

During the meeting’s public-comment period, resident Jeff Tokeser asked commissioners for an update on Peninsula Behavioral Health’s Northview project and on a $420,000 voucher payment shown on the county’s warrants list.

Tokeser said Northview is a “luxury homeless housing complex” estimated at $12,750,000 and priced at about $350,000 per unit. He said a prior Peninsula Behavioral Health project went 37% over budget and told the board he had seen no construction updates for Northview despite county funds having been approved. “I think it would be an appropriate discussion or an update for the commissioners to offer the public,” he said, noting the county had approved at least $4,000,000 in support.

The request: Tokeser asked the board to provide the public with a status update on project costs and whether the current project is tracking to estimates.
