Board discusses Harbor Pointe and statewide integrated‑health closure, plans mower request review and notes jail construction progress

A board member reported information from a recent Zion meeting that Harbor Pointe is closing and that the integrated health program will be shut down statewide.

“There’s lots of changes being made. … without the crisis intervention stuff that they had the luxury of with Harbor Point … it falls on the hospitals,” the board member said, warning that hospitals and law enforcement will likely absorb some services previously provided by Harbor Pointe and the integrated program.

Separately, the board heard from a member who said county maintenance superintendent JD plans to ask the board next week to approve purchase of a replacement mower for gravel roads. The board member said JD told the board the existing mower has failed and that the cost to replace it would likely be between $150,000 and $200,000. “He said between probably 150 and 200,000 for new mower that works on the gravels,” the presiding member relayed.

Finally, a board member noted that walls are being raised at the county jail construction site and that the work is “getting exciting.” No formal actions were taken on these reports; the mower purchase request was scheduled for discussion at the next meeting.
