The Milford Conservation Commission agreed to pursue siting a 10‑by‑20 steel storage container at the Rail Trail parking area adjacent to DPW to centralize equipment used for trail maintenance and races.
Commissioners said the proposed container would store canopies, tables, cooking equipment and larger items now dispersed between a small town shed and volunteers’ garages; members and staff estimated a typical 10×20 unit would cost roughly $2,000 if used and up to $8,000–$9,000 for a near‑new unit. Town staff (Leo) agreed to provide site work, including a rock pad, once approvals are in place.
Because the DPW parking area abuts a wetland the commission expects to apply for a special exception; members said the proposal likely touches the wetland buffer and a 15‑foot setback in the current mapping. Commissioners said they will bring the plan to the Board of Selectmen because the parcel is town land but not conservation land and requested written confirmation from DPW that site work is available. No purchase or funding authorization was made at the meeting; members asked staff to collect pricing and return with options for size and placement.
