Public asks about accessibility at upcoming community events; council points to event organizers

A member of the public asked whether the community events listed in the council announcements would include accessibility supports for people with disabilities.

Trevor Marshall (public comment) asked whether accessible accommodations would be provided at events such as the amphitheater movie night, block parties and other community gatherings. Council members responded that many of the calendar items are hosted by outside organizations who asked the city simply to announce the events; they advised the commenter to contact the sponsoring organizations directly for accessibility details.

Council members said they generally try to attend community events when schedules permit but could not commit on the record to attending all events. Staff and council did not provide additional accessibility commitments for non‑city‑sponsored events during the meeting.
