Board approves street work agreement, event closure and curb cuts for downtown events and repairs

The Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety on July 30 approved three Street Department items: an agreement with Thinaman Construction Partnership to sweep a wastewater treatment–adjacent parking area during a nearby project; a city street closure for the Roosters Oktoberfest event on Sept. 20; and curb/street-cut permits for Case Construction at 1701 Jefferson Street and 2308 Smead Street.
Thinaman Partnership representative Chad told the board the company agreed to sweep the parking lot adjacent to the wastewater plant for the duration of a local project and proposed a rate of $150 per hour; the board approved an agreement to proceed and asked staff to finalize contract details with city legal staff (Kelly) after the meeting.
The board approved a street closure request for Roosters Oktoberfest for Sept. 20 from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. that will close Melbourne Street directly south of the depot; staff said drive-through access across the parking lot would still be available on the east and west sides. The board also acknowledged the car-show scheduling and clarified event dates during discussion.
Board members also approved pavement/curb cut permits for Case Construction to repair NIPSCO cuts at 1701 Jefferson Street (work on Erie Avenue) and 2308 Smead Street; staff indicated preferred timing in August and the board granted the requested permits subject to standard conditions.
Deputy Mayor Jacob Palmasol and Board Member Levi Jones voted yes on these items; staff said they would return with finalized contract language for the Thinaman partnership.
