Planning staff receives general-plan draft and submits annual moderate-income housing report

Centerville — City planners told the council on Aug. 5 that they had received the first rough draft of the city’s comprehensive general plan and that staff submitted the city’s annual moderate-income housing report to the Utah Department of Housing on Friday.

General-plan draft: Planning staff said the draft general plan is large and will undergo careful review; staff will circulate the draft to city leadership for grammatical and substantive review and return with recommended edits. Staff described the draft as substantial in length and said they will check details and provide updated versions to the mayor and council.

Moderate-income housing report: Staff confirmed submission of the city’s annual moderate-income housing report (required by state housing rules) and said the city expects up to 90 days for the state to complete its review. Staff also said they had coordinated closely with the state-review team before submitting the report to ensure the language met statutory expectations.

Next steps: Staff will review the general-plan draft in detail, provide corrections and then present the document for council consideration of next review steps. The state will notify the city of any follow-up from the moderate-income housing report after its review period.
