Commission corrects cross-reference in Act 934, replacing incorrect penalty section citation

The Arkansas Code Revision Commission approved a correction to Act 934 after staff and the Attorney General's Office identified a manifest reference error. The act had cited Ark. Code §26-57-256 for penalties, but that section does not contain penalties; the penalties appear in §26-57-255.

Staff presented the discrepancy and recommended updating the reference to §26-57-255. Representative Jimmy Gazzaway, sponsor of the bill, reviewed the materials during the meeting and agreed the reference was a manifest error and should be corrected. The commission voted to change the cross‑reference; Representative Shepherd seconded the motion.

Staff said the February 2019 amendment had previously moved penalties between subsections, which likely produced the drafting error. Commissioners instructed staff to implement the correction in the supplement and online codification.
