Health department reports July subsidy spending, says state grant payments may lag until October

A Health Department representative told the Finance Committee on Aug. 11, 2025, that the county used $53,831 of a subsidy in July and that year-to-date use of the subsidy is about 60%.

The representative said the county is 67% of the way through the fiscal year and that current spending is under the pace from the prior year. They said state grant payments for the new grant year typically slow in July while the state finalizes awards, and that the county usually begins to see those payments in October.

The update did not include a detailed year-to-date dollar total beyond the percentage reported. Committee members asked no substantive questions during the update and thanked the presenter.

The department did not request any immediate action from the committee during the meeting and indicated it would provide further updates as state grants begin to flow later in the fall.
