The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Board on Aug. 1 accepted a donated artwork by the late artist Jan Dean for display on the Polk County Trail after an heir offered the piece to the city at no cost.
The board approved the donation during the attorney’s report, saying the artist has since died and an heir agreed to donate the work. Accepting the gift requires only board approval because the donor offered it without asking for compensation or city expense.
Board members moved and voted to accept the donation at the meeting. Staff described the piece in the meeting as a figurative work showing two hands "kinda grasping each other." No installation date or maintenance plan was announced at the meeting.
The board recorded the motion to approve the lending-to-artist agreement and carried the motion unanimously.
Board staff said the city will coordinate installation on the Polk County Trail; no further schedule or funding details were specified at the meeting.
