Aug. 7, 2025 — The Cache County Planning Commission received a brief update on Powder Mountain planning efforts and scheduling.
County planning staff said they would break the Powder Mountain material into focused topics and present those pieces at the commission’s September and October meetings so commissioners would not have to review all project materials at once. Staff offered to circulate the full packet to commissioners the week of the meeting or early the following week, and to post topic-specific materials at least one week before the scheduled hearings.
Staff also said the county council had requested a joint session after the planning commission’s initial discussions; that joint meeting would likely be scheduled outside a regular council meeting because of council workload. Based on the schedule discussed with Powder Mountain representatives, staff said they were aiming for adoption by the end of the year at the latest but did not propose specific dates.
Commissioners discussed whether a special meeting should be called to handle the Powder Mountain materials; staff offered the option but said the plan was to use two regular meetings and keep materials organized in a shared folder for commissioners’ review. Ending: Staff will circulate the full packet and topic-specific materials ahead of the September meeting and will coordinate the joint session with county council.
