Broomfield council unanimously approves hearing officers' recommendations on property tax protests

BROOMFIELD, Colo. — The Broomfield City Council, sitting as the Board of Equalization, unanimously approved a resolution adopting hearing officer recommendations and administrative denials for property tax protest petitions, voting 8-0 on Resolution 2025-123-BOE during a virtual meeting.

Crystal Clemons, city and county clerk, told the council that property owners had filed protests challenging their assessed property values and that hearing officers had reviewed the cases and issued one of three outcomes: a reduction in value, no change in value or an administrative denial. “Property owners have filed protests challenging their property tax values,” Clemons said.

The action item was the only item under action on the evening's agenda; council heard no public comments on the matter and asked no substantive questions before taking the vote. Council member Henkel moved to approve the resolution; Mayor Pro Tem Schaff seconded the motion. When called for a roll-call vote, each council member present voted yes, and the mayor noted, “that passes 8 to 0.”

Clemons said staff had provided the resolution and documentation to council members in advance and offered to answer questions.

The council concluded its business after the vote and adjourned the meeting.
