Patrick Smith, risk manager at K-CAMP, presented Miami County with a risk-management achievement award and a check for $5,593.15 at the Aug. 6 Board of County Commissioners meeting.
“We like to personally recognize and congratulate our members that meet the criteria for our risk management achievement award, and Miami County, of course, was one of our members,” Smith said. He told the board that the award recognizes steps taken by the county and its risk-management committee to reduce property-loss and liability claims reported to K-CAMP.
Smith said more counties qualified for awards this year than last; he estimated roughly 13 or 14 counties qualified compared with nine the previous year and said the larger number required prorating available funds to fit K-CAMP’s budget. He did not provide the names of the other counties.
Commissioners accepted the presentation and thanked Smith. The check was handed to a county representative identified in the meeting only as Lucas. No formal county action or budget appropriation related to the award was recorded during the session.
Ending: The presentation concluded without further agenda items tied to the award.
