The Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 6 authorized the chair to execute a notice to proceed with Superior Bone Asphalt Company for the county’s 2025 asphalt corrective maintenance program.
Matt Olerk, project manager, described the item as a notice to proceed for project “2407STC0702” and said it implements plans and construction documents the commission approved several months earlier. Olerk said the program includes work on several county streets “which includes 220 Third Street from Woodland to Metcalfe and Metcalfe from 2 Fifteenth to 270 First Street,” as stated on the record.
Commissioner Vickery moved to proceed with the notice; Commissioner Vaughn seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the notice to proceed.
Commissioners and staff praised the quick turnaround. One commissioner noted it was “worth noting we changed directions on you and had you whip up a pretty extensive project in a short amount of time,” and Olerk thanked staff and said he was “pleased to do so.” A commissioner also observed the county was “able to do more with less budget than we had planned,” but no budget amounts were given on the record.
The notice to proceed implements previously approved plans; the contract execution was authorized but contract details beyond the contractor name and project code were not read into the record during the meeting.
Ending: The board completed the action on the record and moved on to other agenda items.
