Pratt County adopts Region E hazard mitigation plan

The Pratt County Commission voted 3-0 to adopt Resolution 8-18-25, formally adopting the Kansas Homeland Security Region E multi-hazard mitigation plan and authorizing submission of the adoption resolution to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management and FEMA Region 7. Commissioner (unnamed) moved to adopt the resolution and it was seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The resolution cites the countythe federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and the need for an adopted plan as a condition of eligibility for pre- and post-disaster mitigation grant programs administered by FEMA. According to the motion language read into the record, the county participated in the FEMA-prescribed mitigation planning process and the plan had been reviewed by Kansas Division of Emergency Management and FEMA Region 7 officials contingent on local adoption.
