City staff provided an update on the Green Street project during the Aug. 4 council meeting, reporting that final finishes are in place and the city will hold a grand opening weekend Aug. 15–17.
A pre-recorded development update noted flooring, 10 garage doors, HVAC fans, LED screens and televisions are installed in the indoor market; restroom work is complete and catering equipment for the market's kitchen was scheduled for installation. The covered outdoor lawn area has synthetic turf and electrical outlets for a movable stage; planters and site furniture were near completion.
Public features to be installed around the same timeframe include the Immerson Children's Playground, public art sculptures titled Raptor and Emergence, murals at the City Hall parking garage and Green Street Market, and an iconic sculpture titled Everything Changes with a Dream at the southern entry point, slated for installation in August. City staff encouraged the public to attend the ribbon-cutting weekend that will include the downtown farmers market and family activities.
Council members praised the project's appearance during roundtable comments. The city webpage greenstreetls.com and event materials list detailed programming for the opening weekend.
