During the mayor’s report on July 1, Mayor Kelly told the Board of Aldermen that two part-time employees at the Red Cedar (a city facility) resigned effective immediately and that another part-time worker is largely unavailable because of personal matters. The city has two budgeted part-time positions but had four people sharing the hours; with the resignations that staffing arrangement is no longer in place.
Mayor Kelly said Tourism Director O’Malley is covering Red Cedar duties as possible but that her primary responsibility is tourism. The mayor warned that, because of limited staffing and upcoming vacation time, Red Cedar may be closed on days it would normally be open during July unless the city can recruit additional part-time staff or volunteers.
The mayor asked for interest in filling the part-time positions and for volunteers; no formal action or hiring decision was made at the meeting.
