PUEBLO, Colo. — During public comment at the Aug. 5 Pueblo County commissioners meeting, a resident identified as Wendy questioned the recent listing and apparent sale of a public shooting range and raised concerns about materials and local hiring.
Wendy asked county-affiliated Zach (named in her remarks) about whether rhodamine asphalt placed on the property came from United companies and how the asphalt affected the property's sale listing. “I wanted to know that, the rhodamine asphalt that came from United, companies that went to the gun range that you didn't ask for. How has this benefited the gun range in the sale of the property?” she asked.
She also said the listing used aerial photos showing black asphalt and that the seller had hired a realtor based in Parker, Colorado. Wendy urged support for local businesses and local labor unions and questioned why an out-of-town realtor was hired. She noted the property was listed in December and went up for sale in July and asked the county to explain the sequence.
The county's public record of the meeting includes Wendy's comments in the public comment portion of the agenda; the meeting transcript does not contain a substantive response from a named county official to her questions in the recorded segment.
