Huntington Park reduces shuttle frequency after low ridership; council asks for usage report

City staff told the council Aug. 4, 2025, the Huntington Park shuttle service schedule was adjusted after city staff observed underutilization.

Operations staff said the shuttle previously ran at about 20-minute intervals with multiple vehicles on the route; staff reduced the operating schedule from approximately five or six shuttles per day to about two or three to better match demand. Under the revised schedule the shuttle now operates at roughly hourly intervals, Monday through Friday.

A council member asked for a follow-up report because the math did not seem to line up with the budget cut. City staff agreed to provide a more thorough report on shuttle ridership and budget impacts at a later meeting.

The shuttle remains in operation; staff characterized the change as a schedule modification to address low utilization rather than a full service elimination.
