Council approves $197,068 strategic plan for Springdale Airport; airport commission to contribute $98,534

Springdale’s City Council on Aug. 12 authorized a professional services agreement to develop a strategic plan for the Springdale Airport, approving a $197,068 contract with Garver.
Colby (staff) told the council the airport has not had a recent strategic plan and that the city bought the ATCO building last year; staff and the airport commission will participate in the study. The Airport Commission committed $98,534 toward the study cost; the full contract price is $197,068.
During the vote tally, staff reported four yes votes, one abstention and one no, then the mayor cast an additional yes, leaving the tally at five yes and one abstention. The council adopted the resolution to proceed with the study. Council members noted the timing amid potential opportunities involving the National Guard and local airport growth.
City staff said the strategic plan will set a vision and identify development and economic opportunities for the airport and will include participation by the airport commission. Further work will include scope execution, stakeholder engagement and a schedule defined by the professional services agreement.
