Board hears district administrative hires and position placements

Superintendent Kim Kelson announced several administrative hires and reassignments during the July meeting.

Kelson said Taryn Wold will move to Robert Frost Elementary and Joseph Traeger will serve as assistant principal at the high school. Rachel Ayers is assigned as principal at Scotts Mills Elementary with a 0.6 principal / 0.4 special education split; Kelson said that arrangement provides daily principal coverage at Scotts Mills and addresses concerns raised in the ODE safety and security assessment about split leadership at small buildings. Kelson also said James Rise will return to the district and will be assigned to Central Hall.

Board members thanked hiring teams and parent volunteers who participated on interview panels. Kelson said the district included classified and licensed staff on interview teams and that parent representatives participated for at least one of the principal hires; she noted she would define duties for the 0.6/0.4 split with staff the following day.

No vote was required; the hires were reported as part of the administrative update and the new assignments will be reflected in staffing for the coming school year.
