Commissioners withhold portion of Weathercraft roofing payment pending warranty inspection

Keith County commissioners agreed to remove a Weathercraft roofing claim from the payment list and proceed with payment of remaining claims while holding back a portion of the roofing invoice pending inspection.

County staff reported the roof project is mostly complete, with only minor trim remaining. Commissioners said they had discussed holding 10% of the contractor’s invoice or waiting for the warranty inspection team to sign off, to avoid problems like those previously experienced at the county jail. The board moved to pull the Weathercraft claim from the claims list and pay the remainder; Sandy conducted the roll call and recorded the motion as approved.

Staff said they would schedule a roof walk with county personnel and the warranty inspection team, and try to include Steve (a county representative) in the inspection. Commissioner discussion indicated the board expects staff to confirm the warranty team's timeline and to retain the holdback until the inspection is complete.

Motion by Commissioner Anderson, second by Commissioner Schroeder to remove the Weathercraft claim from the claims list and pay the remainder; roll call: yes votes recorded. Outcome: approved. Implementation: staff to coordinate inspection and confirm any retained holdback.
