Lewis County resident raises child-support and government-targeting claims during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the Aug. 11, 2025 Chehalis City Council meeting, Lewis County resident Derek Fine used his five-minute allotment to address the council about personal grievances related to child-support enforcement and alleged misconduct by state agencies.

Fine told the council he believes a child-support increase in about 2007 harmed his relationship with his son and described personal financial hardship that, he said, followed the adjustment. "I couldn't even pay rent, couldn't do nothing. I ended up on the street," Fine said. He characterized actions by state agencies as targeting and said he believes he has been subjected to harassment and broader surveillance; he also used the time to discuss concepts he described as "reverse trust fraud" and argued the state had abused legal and contract processes.
