Committee authorizes $2.04 million Medicaid match for health department capital projects

Lake County’s Health and Community Services Committee on Aug. 5 authorized an emergency appropriation of $2,040,635.74 in Medicaid match dollars for the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center for fiscal year 2025.

Angela Cooper, director of finance and administrative services for the health department, told the committee the funds were deposited into a dedicated fund (Fund 211) outside the health department’s original Fund 210 at the start of FY2025, consistent with the county’s budget development policy (section 5.10.8). The appropriation notifies the board of the amount being deposited into the dedicated fund and designates the funds for capital and facility improvement projects.

The committee approved the appropriation by voice vote. No further project specifics were provided in the meeting; Cooper said the funds are designated for health department capital and facility improvements pursuant to county budget policy.
