Elko TV District authorizes RFP for civil engineering to begin Maggie Creek Road rehabilitation

The Elko Television District on Thursday authorized staff to post a request for proposals (RFP) seeking a civil engineering firm to provide on‑call professional services including road and drainage design, land surveying, geotechnical testing and construction oversight.

Board members said the RFP was designed to support immediate work on Maggie Creek Road and the lower Grindstone access, areas the district has repaired multiple times after storms and wildfire damage. The documents specifically call for mapping options that include drone‑based aerial surveys and consolidated base station markers to provide precise geographic control for future design and construction.

The board discussed typical costs and approaches. At the meeting staff described licensed land‑surveyor rates of roughly $1,000 to $1,500 per day for field crews, and said the RFP will allow selection of a local firm able to provide aerial mapping, geotechnical reports and construction testing such as concrete slump and compaction reports. The deadline for proposals was listed at Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. in the RFP posted to the district website and newspaper, board members said.

Following a motion and second, the board voted to post the RFP and directed the infrastructure committee to rank respondents and return a recommended shortlist for board approval. Board members said the first priority for the selected consultant will be design and oversight for the Maggie Creek Road rehabilitation project.
