Elko County water-plan update: demographics, mission statement review delayed; informal working group approved

Commissioners discussed the Elko County water-plan update, including demographic tables, the placement and wording of a mission statement, and options for an informal working group to accelerate drafting.

Curtis (county staff) presented demographic material linked to data sources and said census-tract breakdowns are available and can be added to separate appendices for specific plans. A motion to "lay this on the table till next meeting" to allow review passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
On the process, staff advised that a formally constituted subcommittee would be subject to open-meeting-law rules and that an informal working group of up to three people exchanging drafts would be faster; commissioners agreed and asked staff to coordinate interest via email. Commissioners also approved Commissioner Wesley Creel to represent the committee at an October off-road/OHV summit roundtable titled "Shaping Elko County outdoor spaces: how local and federal plans work together." Meeting minutes from June 30 were approved by voice vote.
