Rosenberg City Council approved a variance for a patio at 5610 Wagon Wheel Lane in the Oaks of Rosenberg after staff said the planning commission had unanimously recommended approval and neighbors testified in support.
Property owner Geneva Morales appeared during general comments and identified herself as the owner of the patio project on the regular agenda. Bill Harvey, a neighbor and HOA board director, spoke in support at the council meeting: "We had a great turnout at the planning commission of neighbors who supported her," Harvey said, adding the HOA had reviewed the project and did not oppose it.
Planning staff noted the project had already cleared the planning commission two weeks earlier with a unanimous recommendation. Councilmember Hector moved to approve the variance; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously on a voice vote.
Discussion vs. decision: the council took formal action to approve the variance at the meeting; staff and the planning commission had previously reviewed and recommended approval.
Ending: The variance was approved and the applicant thanked the council for their consideration.
