Youth City Council invites applicants and promotes school events, sports fundraisers

Youth City Council members used closing remarks on Aug. 28 to remind students that applications for new council members will open in mid-September and to promote upcoming school events and fundraisers.

Speakers encouraged seventh-through-12th-grade students to apply and suggested attending meetings to learn about the council before applying. Several students promoted a high-school volleyball fundraiser and a blue-and-gold scrimmage at Gallen City Stadium scheduled for the following day; speakers noted some tickets are free with a student ID and suggested sharing event links on social media.

Council members said serving on the youth council has helped them build public-speaking skills and community connections and asked attendees to share recruitment information with classmates. No formal action was taken; the announcements were informational.
