The Liberty City Council on June 2 unanimously approved an ordinance enabling the city to join Show Me PACE under the Property Assessed Clean Energy Act, cited in the ordinance as Sections 67.280 to 67.2835 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri. The ordinance passed on second reading and was approved by Mayor Greg Knutson.
Council members said the item had been discussed at a prior meeting and staff and outside counsel had reviewed the proposal. During discussion a council member said they had previously opposed residential PACE programs but regarded this commercial PACE arrangement as different and said they were comfortable approving it. The ordinance states the terms under which the city will participate as a member of the district and authorizes staff to conduct activities consistent with joining the district.
Council members voted by voice/raised hands; the mayor then announced the ordinance passed unanimously. The council did not record amendments or conditions on the membership during the meeting.
