Selectmen on Aug. 4 were told that a package prepared by Al Couch on a possible solar project will be circulated to board members ahead of next week’s meeting, when a Standard Power representative is scheduled to appear. The packet will be available for selectmen to review and consider whether to pursue a solar farm at the town’s old recycling‑center site.
One board member said the former recycling location could be repurposed for solar and noted earlier conversations on similar ideas. The discussion in the meeting was preliminary; no motion, vote or formal referral was taken. Board members posed initial questions about site suitability and agricultural compatibility but deferred technical and contractual discussion to the Standard Power presentation.
Selectmen asked staff to assemble the materials and distribute them to members for review ahead of the next meeting, when the town will hear from the developer’s representative and can ask detailed questions about feasibility, size and potential community impacts.
