A member reporting on behalf of MyNet told the council on July 1 that the MyNet board adopted its budget at a June 25 meeting and that, through May 2025, MyNet is outperforming its budget by approximately $79,000.
The report said MyNet expanded service into Rickreall and South Dallas using federal pandemic-relief grant funding obtained through Polk County; the system now has about 110 active customers in those areas and an initial eight customers in Falls City following a request from Falls City. The report noted work on retrofitting trolleys and re-installing closed-circuit video and security equipment that had been removed during a CAD equipment upgrade.
MyNet’s board representative described recent outages caused by local power interruptions (street-level equipment damage from wildlife) and said the network operations center now has three separate upstream paths to the wider internet, improving redundancy so a single upstream outage no longer causes a service interruption.
The council was informed of a planned MyNet customer appreciation event on Aug. 21 and that the board had authorized restoration of video/security equipment removed during prior upgrades. No council action was requested; the item was presented as an informational report from a board representative.
